THE SILENT ZONE
When the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic first became known, I would watch the news unfold from my hotel room in Rovaniemi in Finland, whilst taking short daily walks outside. Change happened rapidly as the offices and shopping centres began to shut down, the streets and highways became empty, and the city fell silent. As the public areas remained vacant and still, a sense of isolation descended over the city.
The Silent Zone was published as part of the MAP6 zine The Isolation Project.
