EAST COAST DISTILLERY
The East Coast Distillery is a small gin distillery located in Thorpe-Le-Soken on the North Essex Coast. The distillery is positioned just a short walk away from Landermere Wharf, a former dock first used in the Elizabethan era by Thames sailing barges where the main cargo was coal, corn and wood. This unique watery landscape is very much at the heart of the gin that the East Coast Distillery produce, as not only does it have an influence on the creative processes used during the making of the gin, but some of the ingredients are also be foraged there.
I was commissioned by the East Coast Distillery to produce a series of photographs that captured the unique character of the Tendring district, as well as the production and distribution processes that are carried out on the distillery premises. I also created studio and exterior product shots of their signature gin Tides Fortune, which is hand crafted in small batches and infused with a range of local coastal botanicals which captures the spirit of the area. On a second commission for the distillery, I returned to create images for their new Elder Pear Dry gin campaign, captured in autumn to reflect the colour and characteristics of the bottle.
