Zupa Bay is located along the southern edge of the Dubrovnik Riviera in Croatia. A 19 km walk around the bay, between the town of Cavtat in the east to the city of Dubrovnik in the West, reveals the popular holiday resorts Plat, Mlini and Kupari. In 1991 the bay was pulled into conflict when naval ships surrounded the bay and attacked the area around Dubrovnik. The hotels Kupari, Pelegrin, Gorcina, Grand, Belvedere and Ambassador were destroyed, and following the war the luxury hotel complexes were stripped of everything of value. Years of looting, plundering and illegal raves left them as nothing more than desolate structures. Today these immense buildings sit abandoned along the regions beaches, standing as monuments to another period in history that is buried deep within a countries collective memory.
