For some time, an inability to sleep kept me awake at night, and I would lay in bed thinking, caught within the cyclical patterns of my mind. So I took to walking the streets as a way to get me through the night, and I made photographs of the empty city streets and the surrounding woodlands.

Made over the course of a single summer, Sleeplessness explores themes of insomnia, night walking and the aloneness that can be experienced during the night. The work is intended to draw parallels between the isolation of the nocturnal urban environment and what happens to the mind when we are unable to sleep.
